DDB New Zealand’s executive creative director Andy Fackrell will move to Sydney at the end of January to move into a new role of regional creative director. The role will see him focusing on projects from Asia.

DDB Group Australia CEO Chris Brown said in a statement: “It’s great that we have someone of Andy’s creative calibre within AsiaPac as a regional CD and that he has chosen Sydney as his base.

“Andy will be reporting directly to John Ziegler, chairman & CEO DDB Group Asia Pacific, India and Japan and as such, many of his projects will be out of Asia.  He will report directly to Dylan Harrison and Darren Spiller respectively on any local projects he consults on.

“Andy is certainly one of the network’s brilliant creative talents and having him based in Australia will add further depth and skill to our already strong national team.”

Fackrell joined the DDB Group in December 2011 after nearly nine years as chief creative officer with international communications agency, 180 Amsterdam. Prior to this role, Fackrell worked for Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Oregon as an art director for five-and-a-half years.

DDB Sydney ECD Dylan Harrison said in a statement: “Both Darren and I are looking forward to having even more great heavyweight talent based in Australia. Modern creatives often have multiple projects and this is a great way for Andy to flex his talent, while keeping one of our best creative directors within the regional network for us to tap into.”
