Deakin University to hold Google Hangout with Prime Minister

Deakin University will hold a Google Hangout with the Prime Minister Julia Gillard on Saturday July 21st.

The ‘Hangout With the PM’ is the brainchild of agency CumminsRoss, and Deakin’s MBA Program with OurSay, Fairfax Media, Google and YouTube.

Kirsty Muddle, CumminsRoss head of strategy and media said: “The new Worldy positioning for Deakin needs to extend across both message and media, and the unique Google Hangout platform provides a great opportunity for the Australian public to speak directly to the Prime Minister about our most pressing national issues. Partnering with Fairfax Media, Google and OurSay created an event of real significance through their audience reach, credibility and technology.”

The event follows the Deakin University rebrand, by CumminsRoss.

Fairfax journalist Misha Schubert will host the event to be feature in the Sunday Age and syndicated via Fairfax print and online mastheads.

The public are to submit a question to OurSay.org or using the #pmhangout via Twitter. The top three questions will be voted on by the public and put to the prime minister during the event.

Participants can hang out through Deakin’s Google+ page and the event will be streamed on the university’s YouTube page.
