Doritos goes down to final three ads
Doritos has selected its three finalists for its Australian make-an-ad competition.
The winner – based on public vote – will air on Ten during Good News Week and receive a prize of up to $50,000.
The finalists of the Clemenger BBDO-organised contest are:
- Doritos Beatboxer – David Williams, Doncaster East:
- Dennis – Alex George, Cronulla:
- Welcome to Fantasy Corn Chip Island – Maik Hempel, Melbourne:
The competition, in its second year in Australia, in inspired by the US version which sees a winner feature during the Superbowl and win $1m.
The ‘Un-Tasmanian’ one’s excellent. And that talent’s gotta stay in it. Even the lead guy’s ‘triangle’ haircut works. Perhaps might need to have fine print at end or a voiceover stating they’re not really made in Tasmania (yes, you will have part of the Aussie audience thinking they might be).

Just a shame that the avg joe punter knows the origin of this competition … and having your ad aired in GNW just doesnt shape up against the Super Bowl!
Good luck to all 3 x involved though I’d be happy to see “Dennis” spruiking my brand

The beatboxer get’s my vote. Reminds me of Elliot Goblet a bit, so not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Agree with hammertime – all the best to the final 3.

Good job all round but Dennis gets my vote, made me chuckle and can see it working to a wider audience

beat boxer or tassie one – both great. i reckno the first one could be even better with some decent production

Dennis had my vote, although appealed due to the talent, great delivery. Although does it highlight the fact it’s not Australian? Recovers with the map of Tassie link, so I guess woks in the end. Beatboxer was great at hitting the intended market, he was too much of a dork.
