Duplication house fats Digital has widened its national footprint with the acquisition of Video-8 Media.
FATS Digital Expands with Video-8 Media Acquisition
Broadcast duplication and Multimedia specialist FATS Digital today announced that it had expanded its national operation with the purchase of Video-8 Media. Video-8 Media will complement FATS existing range of services and will bolster its video restoration and migration to Digital Asset management, with remote low proxy viewing of clips and File based delivery services.
The purchase of the Broadcast Video Duplication, Technical services, File based transfer and delivery business will strengthen FATS’ position as one of Australia’s largest multimedia and duplication companies.
Founded in 1987 as a professional blank media distributor representing Sony video products, FATS Digital has steadily grown and diversified to become a leading broadcast video duplication and technical facility, offering Blu-ray & DVD authoring, iTunes encoding and aggregation, Digitisation, Video file transfer and delivery as well as CD and DVD production printing and packaging.
FATS is wholly Australian owned and has operations in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Post the acquisition of Video-8, FATS will expand its ability to capture videotape as files with a stronger focus on file based QC, and file delivery locally and Internationally. FATS Digital Directors, Geoff and Robert Angell said: “Video-8 Media’s Sydney based business is an excellent acquisition for FATS Digital. FATS Digital has offered a number of key staff employment and we recognise that Video-8 Media has some of the most experienced personnel in the broadcast industry.”
The acquisition was completed on Monday, July 9, 2012.

The Angell’s concluded that FATS was committed to expansion and growth, including the acquisition of viable businesses that compliment and add value to its existing operations. The acquisition of Video-8 Media expands the services provided by FATS so that it can provide stock for production, through to QC, restoration, digitisation, archiving and uploading web proxy video images into cloud based storage.
