Euro RSCG hires digital strategist Anthony Dever, integrates digital and creative teams

Phil Johnston and Anthony Weaver, Euro RSCG SydneyEuro RSCG Sydney has added a digital specialist to its planning department with the hire of Anthony Dever (pictured, right) from BCM in Queensland.

The appointment, the first since Julie Burke took the helm as MD last month, coincides with the move of Euro’s digital production team to the same floor as its creative team.

Dever is the only digital specialist in Euro’s planning team – Ben Phillips, a digital strategy planner, left to join the network’s London office before Christmas.

Phil Johnston (pictured, left), Euro RSCG’s head of planning, who joined in October from BWM, noted: “We’re aware that everyone will want to use him as a resource. We’re going to be careful how his time is used.”

Johnston said that he had been looking for a good digital planner since November, but had had to wait to find the right fit for the role.

“Some people think digital is the answer to everything. We didn’t want someone like that. We wanted someone more rounded, someone who knows what digital can do to make an idea better.”

Dever’s efforts will be focused on key clients including Sony, Pernod Ricard and Reckitt Benckiser.

On the rejigged floor plan, Burke noted that the move of Euro’s digital team to sit with the creative department was key to moving the agency forward.

“An integrated capability with digital at the centre is critical to our progress as an agency,” she said.
