NIDA: Creating Excellent Communicators

Learn from the best and improve your interpersonal communication skills in the workplace.

OVERVIEW
The emphasis of this course is interpersonal communication in the workplace. Identify and practice fundamental strategies to manage a range of professional communications. Training is practical and drawn from the best of NIDA performance practice. Support materials will be provided.

COURSE COMPONENTS

PUT YOURSELF IN THE PICTURE
– Video session. Identify and review your communication style.

VOCAL PRESENCE
– Develop your voice for effective communication in the workplace. Consider volume, pace, texture and clarity.

ENGAGING OTHERS
– Plan for successful communication. Take control of the given elements, articulate your objectives and identify obstacles and strategies to overcome them.

AFFECTING OTHERS
– Apply techniques to confidently manage a range of workplace communication situations.

PHYSICAL PRESENCE
– Identify how body language contributes to communication. Consider posture, gestures, energy and spatial awareness.

CLAIMING THE STAGE
– Make adjustments to ensure the involvement of others. Initiate communication, listen and respond and test the impact of communication in a variety of spatial contexts.

SETTING THE SCENE
– Devise and present a range of communication scenarios. Respond to feedback.

OUTCOMES
– Greater confidence in managing and responding to a range of workplace communication scenarios.
– Physical and vocal techniques to support effective workplace communication.
– A greater awareness of unique communication style.
– Strategies to successfully plan and deliver workplace communications.

HOW TO PREPARE
It is advisable that participants wear loose and comfortable clothing (eg. flat shoes) as there may be some movement exercises.

We welcome you from 8:30am for tea and coffee. Please arrive by 8:45am to ensure a
prompt start.

Arrival tea and coffee, morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.
