Ex-Comms Council CEO Daniel Leesong resurfaces at Tasmanian agency

Former Communications Council CEO Daniel Leesong has resurfaced at Tasmanian PR, marketing and ad agency Corporate Communications.

Leesong abruptly left the Comms Council in November of last year, a departure the industry body’s chairman Anthony Freedman described as “regrettable”.

The reason for Leesong’s exit remains unclear.

His new employer’s MD Nick Turner, who is also national president of the Public Relations Institute of Australia, told Mumbrella that the nature of Leesong’s exit from the Comms Council had not affected his decision to hire him.

“We had no hesitation in putting Daniel on our team,” said Turner. “He’s very well connected, particularly in government circles, and has added enormous value for our clients. I’m surprised daily by the number of people he knows.”

Corporate Communications specialises in lobbying and government relations, but also offers speech writing, stakeholder liaison, media training and crisis management as well as advertising and events.

Before joining the Communications Council, Leesong worked as CEO of the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania. He was also chief of staff to the Premier of Tasmania, and director of external affairs at the Distilled Spirits Industry Council.
