Ex-Lowe ECD Melissa Peters launches eco-shopping portal

Melissa Peters, the former ECD of Lowe Sydney, has launched an eco-shopping portal called GlitterTrees.

The site supports aspiring Australians designers who make green lifestyle products. For every product sold, a tree is planted.

Though ad-free for now, the site plans to open up space for ad banners and other site sponsorship opportunities soon, Peters explained.

“We’re going to be very strict on the sort of advertisers allowed on our site,” said Peters. “They must have a mission to be going green and show support for local talent.”

The site launched through a partnership with Carbon Neutral, an offsetting company that reforests parts of Australia. Another partner is Rooftop Honey, which will offer corporate sponsorship of beehives.

Peters, who has been a consultant creative director for agencies such as The White Agency and clients such as Telstra since she left Lowe in February this year, also runs the blog itsgeekchic.com.au.

Previously CD of Citrus, then Lowe’s digital creative head, Peters also founded – and still runs – the ‘designer guide to Melbourne’ site Love Bento.
