Eye care specialist OPSM strikes partnership with flybuys in new health initiative

Eye care retailer OPSM has formed a partnership with flybuys as part of its latest wellness and preventative health initiative, Eye Am Healthy.

The announcement:

Sydney, 23 September 2014 – As part of OPSM’s commitment to the eye health of all Australians, OPSM and flybuys have formed an exclusive partnership that rewards flybuys members for shopping at OPSM and purchasing leafy greens that assist in maintaining eye health.

The partnership between OPSM and flybuys will form part of OPSM’s latest wellness and preventative health initiative titled, Eye Am Healthy, which will educate Australians on how to look after their eyes from the 24th of September.

OPSM customers will be rewarded with one flybuys point per $1 spent at OPSM, and, for a limited time, triple points for every dollar spent on spinach and kale purchases in Coles stores across the country after customers shop at OPSM. As part of the partnership from now until the 8th of October – OPSM customers will also earn an exclusive launch offer of 5 times points per $1 spent on products at OPSM.

Melinda Spencer, Vice President of Marketing at OPSM says, “We are very excited about this partnership with flybuys which has been rolled out to our 339 stores as of today. The exclusive partnership provides customers with value for money and also rewards them not only for shopping at OPSM but also for making the right decisions for their eye health needs.”

Roger Sniezek, Coles Digital Director, said, “Coles and flybuys are committed to making healthier choices easier and we are delighted to welcome OPSM to the program as our optical services and eyewear partner – building on our existing health and fitness partners.”

“In recognition of the importance of eye health, flybuys and OPSM are now offering triple points on spinach and kale until the end of the year for all flybuys members who shop at OPSM. More points means more rewards – including instant money off at the Coles.”

As part of the campaign the OPSM website will house content from the Eye Am Healthy initiative, which will allow customers access to up to date preventative eye health information, including tailored recipes and advice from leading health and wellness communities such as I Quit Sugar.

Over the next four months, I Quit Sugar will provide mouth-watering recipes containing either spinach or kale, which are high in antioxidants and beneficial to eye health. These recipes will also be available at all OPSM stores across Australia from the end of September and will be officially launched at the new Macquarie Centre store by I Quit Sugar founder, Sarah Wilson on Thursday 25 September.

Giuliana Baggoley, Senior OPSM Optometrist states, “Our eyes, much like our bodies, crave healthy foods rich in antioxidants and omega oils. Some simple additions to the weekly shopping basket, such as spinach and kale, can have a big impact on eye health. Providing eyes with the nutrients they need helps us see better and may help prevent and combat common eye diseases, such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.”
