Eyebrows sacrificed for golden gnome glory

Media agency folk will go to unusual lengths to beat their rivals. Even if it means temporarily disfiguring themselves.

Here, MEC’s Wayne Bishop and Josh Grieve from Mindshare gave up their eyebrows for glory at last week’s AdShel Rally.

The event saw 86 media buyers – from Carat, OMD, MEC, Mitchells, Mindshare, Ikon, UM, PHD, Starcom MediaVest, Match and Razor – tear around Sydney in a Monopoly inspired game, which involved, among other challenges, a mechanical bull.

Here Carat’s Katharine Morrison gives a demonstration of her riding prowess.

The winning team, seen here with AdShel’s CEO Steve Macarthy dressed as a policeman, was OMD, which received a golden gnome for their efforts.

From left to right: Steve McCarthy (AdShel), Tobi Fukushima, Natalie Redford, Sarah Harrington-Birch, Robert Clarke, Steve Marshall (also AdShel).
