guy johnsonMedia sales veteran Guy Johnson will this week join Mumbrella’s parent company Focal Attractions as the company’s commercial director.

Johnson joins Mumbrella after nearly 20 years with Fairfax. He left the company in 2011. He was advertising director of Herald Publications, managing a team of more than 100.

Johnson began his career with publisher Harper Collins and also worked in advertising sales for Mason Stuart Publishing.

Johnson replaces commercial director Sean McKeown who is moving to Singapore to lead the newly launched Mumbrella Asia‘s commercial operation.

Since leaving Fairfax, Johnson has been working on a digital start-up project.

Focal Attractions publishing director Martin Lane said: “Appointing Guy is an important statement about our growth ambitions. Media and marketing is a sector where there is growth available for companies willing to put in the investment. Our ambitions stretch to other markets in Australia and to other territories. Guy’s appointment will help us realise that.”

As well as Mumbrella and Mumbrella Asia, Focal Attractions publishes weekly tablet title Encore and industry prospecting tool The Source. It also organises events including Mumbrella360, the CommsCon conference and awards, and the Festival of Branded Entertainment. The company’s training portfolio includes Mumbrella Digital School and the Mumbrella Social Media Academy.
