Fairfax’s 2UE shuffles evenings program after just one survey, following dip in ratings

2ue-logoFairfax’s Radio 2UE is changing its evening line-up after only one survey, ditching 4BC’s Walter Williams in favour of local presenter Mike Jeffreys with the station admitting the Brisbane evenings program “wasn’t the right fit for our audience”.

Williams was networked in from Fairfax’s Brisbane station 4BC, replacing Clive Robertson who decided not to return to the shift for 2015.

An email from 2UE program director Clinton Maynard announced the move to staff, acknowledging the changes was in light of last week’s survey result which saw 2UE’s evening programming drop in the ratings, 4.2 ratings points to a share of 4.9 per cent.

Jeffreys will step into the shift from this evening. He has been a regular present on 2UE for several years, most recently hosting Nights over the summer.

Maynard said a long term decision on the show’s future would be made post the proposed merger with Macquarie Radio,

The email:

Everyone,

From Monday night there will be a change to the 2UE 8pm-Midnightprogram.

Walter Williams and his team put a huge amount of effort into producing and presenting the show, however in light of this week’s survey result it is clear the program wasn’t the right fit for our audience.

Mike Jeffreys will step in from Monday until a long term decision is made on the program’s future, post merger.

Mike has been a regular presenter on 2UE for several years, most recently hosting Nights over summer. Our listeners clearly like Mike and he attracts a big response whenever he does a stint on the station. I’m sure they will welcome his return next week.
