Filmworks and Pandemonium acquires David Rollins’ Vin Cooper series
An Australian producer has acquired the rights to a series of books by an Australian author.
Janice Eymann, producer and CEO of Filmworks, acquired the rights to the ‘Special Agent Vin Cooper’ series of five books by Pan MacMillan author David Rollins.
Eymann has teamed with American producer Bill Mechanic, CEO of Pandemonium Films and former CEO of Fox Filmed Entertainment.
Mechanic said of the series: “I read one and I was hooked, and only stopped reading them when I’d finished the series. Cooper is the classic hero, basically a good guy but cynical and flawed. I think he will make a fantastic franchise character.”
The first film to come out of the book series will be based on Ghost Watch, set in Afghanistan, the USA and Africa and is expected to go into production in 2013.
Eymann said of Mechanic, who produced the Oscar-nominated Coraline, and was executive producer on Terrence Malick’s The New World, “He’s a producer’s producer. I have enormous respect for his work.”
Rollins said: “Having someone like Bill Mechanic in your corner is a bit of dream really and together I believe he and Jan will make an amazing movie.”
Eymann was executive producer, and acquired the rights on Creation, directed by Jon Amiel, written by John Collee and starring Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly.
During his time running Fox, Mechanic was responsible for films such as Titanic, Braveheart, Fight Club, Thin Red Line and X-Men.
You forgot to mention that Dave is also a very talented copywriter and more importantly a nice guy and not a prima donna which is quite unusual in the creative world.

I am so pleased to read this – congratulations David!
I worked with David at an agency more years ago than either of us would care to admit.
Wonderful to see good things can happen to good people – and can’t wait to see the movies.

Nice work David.
And to think this all started when you were sitting in your office at SRVT.
