MUMBLES you found my video!! o.O heh. That was the global summit in Stockholm where a social media strategist was invited from each continent to speak on their country to a live audience of 100 and an online audience of god only knows. The American speaker was the guy that set up HARO which was interesting.

@Mumbrella Reader ... nah if I was trying to promote myself I would've mentioned my courses http://laurelpapworth.com/courses/social-media-marketing-campaign-course/ and invited people to come along. Just like that. :P

@Anon I am consistent :)

Hi Tim,

I currently work creating holistic strategies for some of Australia's best known and well loved brands, and have worked with many more including the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Cottees, Cool Ridge, OPSM, RYOBI, BPAY, The Federal Government, Bacardi, Bombay Sapphire Gin, Tooheys Extra Dry, Budget Eyewear, Fujifilm, Kinder, Weight Watchers, Austar, and many more, and have helped many of them in bringing amazing digital ideas to life through well thought-out strategy and implementation, that combines new and old media together (where necessary) and engages customers both existing and future through many channels including social media, augmented reality, RFID technology, touch-sensitive surface and mobile technology, platform agnostic open source initiatives, and many more things you might not have heard of. I used to work at other places, but I don't anymore, but when I did, it was pretty fun, and I did something amazing stuff with technology that doesn't exist anymore.

I blog regularly on a vast number of topics, sometimes just on things that irk me, or what I had for breakfast that day, but I do blog, and tweet, and brightkite, and I posterous, tumblr, and occasionally I stumpleupon too.

I prefer my coffee without sugar to be perfectly frank, although lately the Mrs has made me switch to skim milk (you know, because of the kilos) which has had me reconsidering my stance on the sugar issue, but I'm holding firm on my ground that it just doesn't belong in coffee.

The reason I list the above is so that when I tell you that your publication ROCKS, and mUmbrella brings sunshine into my life every day, sometimes through uncontrollable laughter, you know I REALLY mean it.

Cheers.

This entire post, comments and all, is just made of WIN. It's like a car accident with clowns - it's both horrifying and hilarious and you can't look away.

Bravo, Laurel, bravo - you never disappoint.

Thanks for the mention, Tim. Perhaps I should preface or conclude my posts with, "Now, have a cup of tea, Bex and a good lie-down?". Shall definitely be taking your gentle critique on board. Keep up the great work. Fantastic to see mUmBRELLA going from strength-to-strength. Cheers, Erica

Hi Tim, thanks for linking to me and my heritage snap back in March 2009 - always fun.

I teach independent film and TV producers through professional classes at the Australian Television and Radio School. I ran a two day social network workshop with LAMP graduates who created Scorched.TV - and won an International Emmy award for interactive and social media. I consulted to The Screen Producers Association of Australia on socialising entertainment and will be speaking at their conference next week (Fringe) and in November (main SPAA). I have of course worked with major media companies around the world on social media strategies including Middle East Broadcasting in Saudi Arabia and Media Development Authority in Singapore. I've spoken on social media at Walkley events, and I am speaking next week at the international media140.com conference on a panel with journalists and recently put together a program of social media training for journalists to offer Media Alliance.

I'm just listing off my practical work in the media industry so that you know that if my occasional frustration at heritage media is based on day to day contact with effecting change in these environments, hopefully it might be forgiven.

I blog on Second Life once or twice a year but I think you mean virtual worlds? yes I think they are the future of entertainment - looking at the numbers that signed up to AION in the last week (60% higher than expectation) it's a juggernaut. Over 1 billion dollars was invested last year in virtual worlds and 80 feature films currently in production have a virtual world/game tie-in.

Your readers might be interested to know that I don't just work with heritage media and games but also every day companies and governments and not for profits including Singapore Government Ministry of Defence, Sony, Olympics, and Hausmann PR. You can find out more at laurelpapworth.com/about - not just theory but practical applications into campaigns.

By the way, why didn't you link to a more recent post (in the last few days) on MySpace Australia http://laurelpapworth.com/myspace-music-australia-launch/ ? Not only did MySpace/Fox/News in the USA start passing it around at a senior level but it has a photo of you in it. :P

I think you have made me look much more entertaining than I really am - but thanks again for the link love.
PS And Erica might not like Eric :P
