Fleishman-Hillard axes VP of digital media Scott Rhodie

Scott Rhodie Fleishman-HillardFleishman-Hillard has made its vice president of digital media Scott Rhodie redundant just seven months after appointing him.

Mumbrella understands that the decision by the PR agency came as part of a round of cost-cutting directed from a regional level.

The agency’s Sydney office has shrunk in recent months from a peak of nearly 30 people including contractors to around 15.

Rhodie – a regular guest on Mumbrella’s weekly podcast – said: “There are nio hard feelings – it’s just business. I understand why they’ve had to do it.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time working with some fantastic cleints and some great, talented colleagues who I hope to work with again at some point.”

Rhodie, who worked as a journalist in Scotland before moving into PR, said that he would be looking for a similar role within the Australian market.

Rhodie is also on of the organisers of the Digital Citizens group, and created the Twitter-driven #shtbox Friday meetups in Sydney.

He blogs on the website Kilt For Hire and tweets as @scottrhodie.

In a new post, he wrote:

“I guess today is Day One of something new. New adventure. New beginning…and the hunt for a new job.”

Fleishman-Hillard GM Walter Jennings was unavailable at the time of posting.
