Former DWA boss Adam Powell joins digital marketing firm Cohort

Adam PowellDigital marketing firm Cohort has announced it has hired Adam Powell, former managing director of DWA, as its new head of partnerships.

Cohort is a firm which specialising in lead generation, email marketing and data and Powell’s new role will see him working to develop the firm’s relationships with clients, which include Westfield and Ticketmaster.

“We are very excited that Adam has agreed to come on board in a crucial new role in our business. Given Adam’s experience, and excellent standing in the Australian advertising and marketing industry, he is a perfect fit to be our head of partnerships moving forward,” said Marcelo Ulvert, managing partner, Cohort.

Prior to heading DWA, Powell was with Fairfax Media as head of client strategy. He has also work at OMD and GPY&R since moving to Australia from the UK ten years ago.

“After a challenging and rewarding stint at DWA, I was looking for a new challenge, and the opportunity at Cohort was too good to pass up. The mix of a fast-growing business with a focus on data and driving measurable results for clients fits with where I want to go in my career, and I’m genuinely looking forward to the future,” said Powell.

He is the third senior appointment for Cohort in the last five months, after the appointments of former managing director of Funbox Matt Bateman as it commercial director in October 2013, and Scott Lawrence as chief technology officer in April.

“We identified the need for another senior head in the business to focus on our burgeoning Partnerships. We are currently working with great businesses like Westfield, Ticketmaster and Snapfish (a division of HP), helping them to drive database growth, and maximize customer engagement,” said Bateman.

“To be able to attract a marketer of Adam’s stature and ability to the Cohort business, is an indication of where we are heading as a business, and I am looking forward to working closely with him to help drive the business forward.”
