Former Euro CEO Bennett joins Frost
Sydney-based Frost Design has brought in former Euro RSCG chief executive Paul Bennett for a trial period as CEO, Mumbrella can reveal.
Bennett departed from his role at Euro last year following a restructure within the Australian Havas group of agencies which includes The Furnace, Red Agency and The Face.
When Mumbrella called the Frost switchboard, Bennett’s title was given as CEO. However, a spokesman told Mumbrella: “Paul is consulting with us at the moment and we would certainly hope that relationship will become that of CEO.”
Bennett joined Euro in June 2008. He was previously managing director of BBDO Proximity, Europe Middle East and Africa, where he was also a global board member.
Last month, Frost was appointed to handle the launch ad campaign to promote the $500m expansion and upgrade of Sydney Airport’s international terminal. The agency is focusing activity on the terminal’s new retail and food offering.
Frost was founded by designer Vince Frost. The CEO role is a new position.
Is Frost no longer a design group but an ad agency? I guess Vince would say he could do anything..even T-shirts. So an ad agency guy. Nothing new here.

stephen, having quickly checked your webpage it seems that you do everything too so I guess you’d be a good judge.

Zing…

Not exactly. My primary focus is strategy. It says I am strategy agency. It’s not everything but it’s the start of everything.

apologies Stephen. It was the “Brand. Digital. Communication. Marketing. Media. Advertising. Comment. Counsel. Strategy. Design. Development. Management” that threw me.

I love Frost. Good people, great work. If they’re branching out a bit, good luck to ’em.

This has my vote for best comment thread of the week so far. Hilarious.

i quite like Frost too. For the record I have no current relationship with Frost (financial or otherwise). I just thought I’d point out a little hypocracy. I have an instictive concern with anyone using the term “strategist”

Frost is just another in a long line of agencies that have fled design to become an ad agency. End of differentiation. I think that was the point being made.

I love Frost too but it’s disappointing to read they’re losing what made them different.

I’ve been watching Frost for a long time (including when Vince was working in London) and can’t believe they’ve gone down this track. I think Stephen’s right. Viva la difference. And whether he’s a strategist or not is not the point he was making.

I’m not sure this necessarily points to a new strategy (hey, Vince: You’re down with the kids – how about telling us yourself?).
Maybe it just means that Vince is getting a decent manager in so he can do the creative bit, which is what he’s best at.

fyi – this is another in a long line of ‘CEO’s at Frost of late. The success of it has got very little to do with any move from design to advertising – it’s about whether the new guy can win Vince’s trust and turn a profit from creativity, whatever it may be – because it certainly won’t be limited to advertising or graphic design.

Whatever Frost is trying to do, it’s not going to happen with this particular ‘trial CEO’. (Edited by Mumbrella for legal reasons).

Bemused; i’m with you but really would prefer not to weigh in…the tom responses to “euro revolving door / dimishing a recently great agency topic” is to forum demanding. Im not sure the interweb can handle it.
