Melissa Madden named as BBC Worldwide’s new marketing director
The Seven Network’s former marketing director Melissa Madden has quit the network to do the same role for BBC Worldwide.
Melissa Madden – who was also head of marketing for the launch of Jetstar and prior to that GM of marketing at Qantas – will start her new role next month.
The move by BBC Worldwide comes as the revamp on the organisation’s Australian operation continues, with new MD Jon Penn due to arrive from FremantleMedia shortly.
Madden was marketing director at Seven from 2004 to 2012, woking across the main network and the launch of its digital channels, along with Yahoo!7.
She said in the announcement: “Madden: ‘I am thrilled to be joining the BBC Worldwide team in Australia and New Zealand. BBC is one of the world’s great brands and is poised for a new chapter of growth and engagement in our market.”
Madden replaces Amanda McGregor, who is moving with the organisation to the UK.

Great to see Mel with another strong brand; she will undoubtedly grow it. Thanks for all the work you did to help the Heart Foundation while at 7.

HUGE congrats, can’t think of a more able and talented marketing expert to lead the charge on the next wave of evolution at the Beeb, one of my favourite brands! Had the pleasure of working alongside magnificent Mel over many years as her research & strategy partner ….. hope one day we’ll get to work together again. Look forward to catching up soon and hearing all about it. Joe
