Independent Sydney-based creative agency The Hallway has appointed former The Leading Edge director of strategy Alex Siewert as strategy director, Mumbrella can reveal.

Siewert joins the agency following two years with The Leading Edge where he finished up with in July last year. Previously he was the Vodafone senior brand communications planner in Ireland and also was the strategic planning director with AKQA in New York. He started his planning career at AMV BBDO London and joined Naked London in 2007 as brand strategy director.

The Hallway CEO Jules Hall said in a statement: “When you are creating work as diverse as we are, you need a certain breed of strategist. Thinking about connections as seamlessly as brand is essential, in the same way that social, tech, PR and content must be as second nature as more traditional advertising. Alex is one of those genuine hybrids that thrive in this environment. He also has a properly grown up beard.”

On his appointment Siewert said: “It’s not often that you get the chance to join a team of people who are genuinely rewriting the rule book on what it means to be a modern creative agency. Brilliant creativity is backed by rigorous intelligence, technology is inseparable from activation and entrepreneurialism is the spark that drives everyone and everything. Its a huge privilege to be invited to be a part of such an amazing team.”

For The Hallway the appointment follows on from picking up the creative account for Italian tomato brand Mutti SpA earlier this month.

The Hallway clients include NSW government, GSK and Fuji Xerox.
