Fox Sports confirms resignation of Fox Footy boss Rod Law just days before AFL kick off

Fox SportsFox Sports has confirmed the departure of director of television and head of Fox Footy Rod Law, just days before the start of the AFL season.

Gary Burns, head of programming and production, Sydney, has been appointed acting head of the footy channel.

Fox Sports chief executive Patrick Delany said after “eight years of great work” Law has “decided to conclude his employment with the company”.

His departure is effective immediately.

Reports in The Australian said Law’s exit follows industry speculation in relation to an audit of Fox Sports’ operations, although it is unclear if the two events are linked.

Meanwhile, Michael Neill will return to Fox Sports to take on the role of head of programming and production at Fox Footy in Melbourne. He left Fox Sports last year after a 16 year career with the company.

“We have a great team in Melbourne that will give footy fans a super season this year,” Delany said.
