Fox Sports owner changes its name to Fox Sports
Subscription TV company Premier Media Group has changed its name to Fox Sports Australia to recognise its best known channel brands.
CEO Patrick Delany, said: “Fox Sports is our retail brand and it is one of the most recognised consumer brands in the country, so we’ve removed the confusion between the name of the retail brand and the corporate entity.”
“The change from Premier Media to Fox Sports Australia provides a stronger reflection of the core business of the company in its name, which is, and will continue to be, sport.”
The company’s channels include new AFL offering Fox Footy, Fox Sports News, Fuel TV and the Fox Sports channels. It also operates foxsports.com.au.
The company is a joint venture between News Corporation and James Packer’s Consolidated Media Holdings. Along with Telstra, the organisations also own subscription TV channel Foxtel.
Makes sense. Its is a good brand name.

Premier Sports Network was the original on-air name for Fox Sports when pay TV began in this country in 1995. If I remember correctly it was changed on-air to Fox Sports the following year. It seems strange that they kept the Premier name for the company going for so long.
