Foxtel celebrates EOFYS again
Foxtel has launched an campaign to promote its annual push for new subscribers as the end of financial year looms. ad
The “Christmas in June” panto themed ad once again promoted EOFYS – the end of financial year sale – which Foxtel first began promoting four years ago.
Updated: Foxtel’s lead creative agency is Clemenger Sydney although this campaign was created by sister agency CHE Proximity Melbourne.
The first EOFYS ad was created for Foxtel by Three Drunk Monkeys in 2009.
Embarrassing for Clems, but it feels like a client demand. The Monkey’s idea at least had context, being a deliberately chirp ad at the height of the GFC.
The latest one feels a little stale now, even the performance of the song sounds half hearted…

“I’m a tree”… that’s pretty funny.
This is sequal idea based on an existing offer @New Idea’s? – And it’s pretty good contextually.. Foxtel are creating an occassion to generate sales. It’s a smart strategy and no doubt works really well for them.
It’s an annual event, so continuing to do the ad in song builds on past campaigns and makes it instantly memorable. Job done.

That’s embarrassing. Even if it was a client demand at least craft it or add some value. Clems is better than this.

This is poor advertising and bad marketing. It only proves one thing – Foxtel are desperate to meet their sales numbers.

I think that we can safely assume that we know where “Phil” works…

Who is that girl in the new foxtel ad that talks about foxtel IQ and other stuff? She looks like that felicity girl from Neighbours in the 2000’s who turned singer. Is that her?
