The friendly face of journalism?
Meet Journo Jack. He’s on a mission to meet everyone in Sydney, all six million of them.
This rubber faced mascot is the latest attempt at raising the profile of local newspapers by News Corp’s NewsLocal, and if you’re in Sydney you can expect to see his slightly maniacal grin on a street near you soon.
He’s also on the lookout for some digs since moving to Sydney from ‘woop-woop’, and although we don’t know where he’s come from, we do now know he wants a girlfriend, and a place with a decent back yard: “I’d like to have a dog one day. I might even call him News Hound.”
Dr Mumbo just hopes the good folk at NewsLocal don’t send the poor chap out in the heatwave that’s expected over the summer. He fears the rubber mask might melt and become even more terrifying.
Because being a local newspaper journalist isn’t hard enough already, right?
He’ll be redundant within a fortnight.

After the phone hacking scandal and (in my opinion) lack of prosecutions I will never read a word of a Murdoch associated paper (print of digi) ever again.

Cheap labour…and just hope Journo Jack is also ready to be a sub-editor, photographer, social media networker…But coming from Woop Woop means he is probably a sacked Fairfax journo – so he would be well skilled up in all those areas. Good grief.
