Game Spot and EB Games partner to deliver latest gaming news

Online gaming platform Game Spot AU and video games retailer EB Games have partnered to offer the latest news on gaming – in a move aimed at helping consumers make better purchase decisions.

The announcement:

Australia’s number one video games website GameSpot AU and Australia’s number one video games retailer EB Games have joined forces to deliver the most up-to-the-moment games news and offers to Australian gamers in a dynamic new partnership agreement, announced today. This partnership will play an important role in closing the gap between purchase consideration and purchase decision in both the online and offline retail spaces.

Tapping into GameSpot AU’s massive audience of 1.2 million visitors monthly (Market Intelligence, Q3 2010) and its ability to deliver news on global events like E3, Tokyo Game Show and more, EB Games is excited around the benefit of this extended information offering to its customers.

“EB Games is delighted to partner with GameSpot AU. This partnership will give EB customers the opportunity to become part of Australia’s largest online gaming community,” said Shane Stockwell, EB Games Merchandising Director. “We look forward to working with the GameSpot team on a wide variety of activities that will keep our customers entertained and informed like never before”.

The agreement will serve two primary functions, firstly as an advisory and editorial service and secondly to encourage in store and online shopping activity amongst GameSpot AU’s large audience. The partnership will see a number of initiatives enacted including the delivery of selected GameSpot AU content to EB customers through EB Games’ online, in-store and social media platforms. In turn, EB Games will connect with GameSpot AU users online through community spaces, social media, in-site promotions and advertising with news of first-look EB Games specials and store news, preorder offers and online shopping facilities.

“The GameSpot audience – the largest gaming community in Australia – loves playing games, talking about games and buying games,” said Jo Gaines, Commercial Director, CBS Interactive. “We’re excited to be taking gamers beyond the web browser to the ‘real world’ through EB Games’ 400+ stores across ANZ. It’s a great-fit partnership that will help gamers both online and offline to make better purchase decisions so that they’re more satisfied with the titles they play.”
