Ghost of Masterchef lifts Ten

The Masterchef uplift lingered for Ten on Monday night with the appearance by winner Adam Liaw and finalist Callum Hann taking The 7PM Project to 1.2m and Undercover Boss, which was previewed after Sunday night’s final, pulling in 1.4m viewers.

Meanwhile, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam, Nine’s new comedy hope Hot In Cleveland made a solid debut pulling in nearly 1.3m viewers.

Nine won the night, just ahead of Seven, which had a strong early evening. Ten was third.

It was also an unusually close race in the morning slot, with Seven’s Sunrise (346,000) only just ahead of Nine’s Today (335,000). Today won the biggest two markets of Sydney and Melbourne, but Sunrise clawed enough back in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth to stay just in front.

  2. I like the premise of Hot in Cleveland. I like how sitcoms are recognising fun over 40 in shows like this and Cougar Town. (Let’s face it, the Sex and The City girls are now deep into their 40s and their fan base has grown older with them….they love seeing strong, sexy female characters who can take the piss out of themselves as they age).

Plus always good to see Betty White, the original and the best.

On the other hand, loving the return to ‘family’ sitcoms too like Modern Family. Both trends seem to be on the money for me.

  4. Did anyone watch the auction show last night? The way those three women were selling sex to sell houses was absolutely disgusting and embarrassing.
They were talking about competing in a man’s world one minute, and then a close up of her putting her underwear on the next.

  6. Modern Family is crass and stupid entertainment.I like humour to have at least a pretense on subtlety…
