@Anon: I finished working with AIMIA in April 2008. I’m currently the Social Media Strategist for Switched On Media. Previous to this I was working as the Marketing Executive at CBS Interactive.

It’s my intention to support the club to alleviate my concerns. I have no interest in smack talking anyone, and it is my understanding that current AIMIA Members and Staff support SMCSYD.

And for anyone reading from Canberra (I wonder), Lauren Cochrane and I coordinate SMC here. Presently, it’s very casual breakfasts every fortnight, akin to the Sydney Coffee Mornings. Come Winter we’ll switch to lunch.

And recently, we have an offer of a venue to use that has PA, etc. so we may get some talks going, who knows.

Hi anon,

Most people who have a profile in this industry are involved in various associations, including AIMIA.

I don’t know if you’ve read Jye’s posting (follow the link above, if not). It’s a balanced and reasonable point that he makes. And he’s also willing to put his name to it, which gives it added credibility.

I don’t really buy your “biased” suggestion though.
