Gold Coast radio ratings: Gold FM is number one

Southern Cross Austereo placed first and second in the Gold Coast radio market in the region’s first ratings survey of 2012.

SCA led the market overall with Gold FM as the number one station on the coast, according to Nielsen data.

Gold jumped to a 16.6% share in the Monday to Sunday split, up from 14.8% share on the last survey.

It was followed by fellow SCA station and Today Network affiliate Sea FM on 15% share, which saw a drop from 16% in the last survey.

In third place was Hot Tomato, which picked up 14.6%, also down on the last survey where it took a 15.2% share.

Craig Bruce, head of content at Southern Cross Austereo said: “We couldn’t be any happier with the performance from both breakfast shows. We are excited about how strongly our brands are set up, especially Fifi and Jules taking number one spot in Drive, and the encouraging signs for Merrick and the Highway Patrol during their first Gold FM survey on the Gold Coast.”

Paul Bartlett general manager of the Gold Coast Media Centre said, “It’s an exciting day for the Gold Coast Media Centre to reclaim number one and number two market position, and it is a great testament to my dedicated team. A lot of hard work has gone into this result. I’m glad the listeners of the Gold Coast have appreciated this and voted with their ears.”
