Grazia appoints Thelma McQuillan as fashion director

Kellie Hush has made her first hire since taking over as editor of Grazia in February, appointing Thelma McQuillan as fashion director.

McQuillan replaces Mark Vassallo, who has been with the magazine since it was launched in Australia by ACP in 2008. Vassallo is to go freelance.

“With a new editor comes a new fashion team,” Hush told Mumbrella. “Mark knew I wanted to build a new team, and had resigned before I joined.”

McQuillan’s career includes a stint as fashion editor of the Sun-Herald’s Sunday Life magazine and was behind Myer’s summer and autumn fashion launches. She has also styled for the UK edition of Grazia.

McQuillan starts at Grazia on 27 April.

Hush noted: “I have worked with Thelma at Fairfax, where she was at Sunday Life, and loved her sense of asthetics. To produce a fashion shoot on a weekly basis is a massive job, and one she understands and excels at.”
