Dr Mumbo

Greenpeace and quiet

Dr Mumbo always feels a great deal of sympathy for the big media owners when they complain about small websites ripping off their stories and not giving them credit. He’s pretty sure he’s heard the word “parasites” bandied around.

So imagine his surprise to see those big media players today.

Regular readers of Mumbrella will perhaps be aware that we broke the story of a member of paper company Solaris posting abusive comments about a Greenpeace campaigner back on Tuesday. And the company’s subsequent apology on Wednesday.

The bigger sites caught up last night, not that you’d know the source was Mumbrella.

Not if you read News Limited’s Perth Now, and Herald Sun and Daily Telegraph and news.com.au anyway. Or the mighty Nine News.

Most appear to be taking the copy straight from news wire AAP. So perhaps it’s not their fault.

Who owns AAP again? Ah yes, mainly News Limited and Fairfax.
