Greenpeace increases pressure on VW with new attack ad

Volkswagen, which trumpeted its green credentials in Australia with the ‘Why be environ-mental’ campaign for the Golf BlueMotion last month, has been on the receiving end of another attack ad from Greenpeace for opposing measures to cut carbon emissions in Europe.

Australians and New Zealanders are being encouraged to join the global protest through the VWDarkside.com website and social media platforms such as Facebook.

Greenpeace told Mumbrella that an “offline” attack on Volkswagen was unlikely in Australia and New Zealand.

The latest anti-VW ad tells the story of a Star Wars storm trooper who ‘sees the light’ after being ordered to shoot a polar bear.

Last week, Greenpeace had its YouTube account suspended because of a complaint made by Star Wars creator Lucas Films that a Greepeace ad infringed its copyright.

  4. Nothing wowserish about this ad, Poppit. A company that publically proclaims and trades off its green credentials needs to be held to account. The German car manufacturers have all put considerable pressure on the German Chancellor to block the EU’s climate change initiatives because of vested interests.

  6. So why not Holden then, poppet?

Or indeed the car industry in general?
