Harvey Norman to install Surface touch devices to bring photography fans into stores
Retail giant Harvey Norman is to install Microsoft Surface tables across its stores, it has emerged during a product demonstration in Cannes.
The Surface 2 – a touch-sensitive, table-based screen is to be rolled out shortly.Unlike the first version of the device, it will be available in Australia almost from launch.
With a unit price of around $8000, the device is aimed at businesses rather than directly to the consumer market.
Harvey Norman has placed one of the largest orders for the Surface 2, with plans to allow customers to build their own high quality photo albums with the tool.
Speaking at a demonstration of the technology at the Cannes Lions festival, Olivier Bessieres, EMEA director for Microsoft Surface told Mumbrella: “In Australia, Harvey Norman is going to host Fuji Film booths having a surface to help you to compose and build your own photo book – vacation photo book, whatever, you will be able to do that using surface.”
“With a unit price of around $8000, the device is aimed at businesses rather than directly to the consumer market.”
Good to hear. On an HN sales model it would cost the public $32,000 on some hideous finance plan.
No doubt they can be found for $4,000 on the web.
