Restored classic still popular after 24 years.

Malcolm

A restored print of Malcolm attracted crowds in Canberra as the National Film and Sound Archive announced the next five titles to be preserved as part of the Deluxe/Kodak project.

The print of Nadia Tass’s 1986 hit Malcolm was screened at the NFSA in Canberra last Thursday and Saturday, with an audience of 302 viewers who heard about the degradation of the film’s negative over the years from Malcolm producer David Parker. An NFSA spokesperson told Encore that a number of cinemas and film societies have already expressed interest in screening this new print.

The NFSA also announced the five titles that will be preserved as part of the Deluxe/Kodak project, which aims to preserve and make available a selection of significant colour Australian films, restoring them to their original format and condition.

The new additions are:
First Contact (Bob Connolly & Robyn Anderson, 1982)

The Fringe Dwellers (Bruce Beresford, 1986)

-Kangaroo (Tim Burstall, 1986)

-The Last Days of Chez Nous (Gillian Armstrong, 1992)

-Love Serenade (Shirley Barrett, 1996)

These films will join the more than 50 new prints that have been created since the project was launched in 2000. Those prints are available for loan from the NFSA for theatrical screenings. (http://www.nfsa.gov.au/the_collection/kodak_collection )
