Hill & Knowlton casts the net
PR agency Hill & Knowlton’s recent tribulations have been well documented.
Now word reaches Dr Mumbo that the agency is going to some lengths to recruit people.
This cold call email reaches Dr Mumbo after it was sent to the work address of a member of staff at a rival PR agency.
Interesting to note that it is only a matter of days since Hill & Knowlton obtained a written apology from former executives over the inappropriate “soliciting” of staff.
Clearly this is appropriate soliciting.
Does the same thing work for a diminishing client list?

Feel sorry for all the PRobots that didn’t even get offered. I understand some journos were asked if they’d like switch over to the darkside…

Totally different scenario. Nothing wrong here, let’s move on.

So let’s get this straight; H&K are happy they pay solicitors a fortune and make staff redundant but now can’t afford to use a recruiter. Instead they choose to go against their own policy to attract staff? Where are your priorities H&K?

… it’s also badly written and ‘begging’. Doesn’t say much for the work they must produce….

perhaps the person who runs HR needs some PR?

This is terrible and rife in media industry. We have blocked (media agency’s name removed for legal reasons) HR dept emails due to a constant flow of desperate sounding attempts to poach staff. Where has the romance gone?

er…sorry, must have missed something here, Tim.
How is Michelle Hutton’s legally forced apology relevant here?
It was principally about breaking her employment agreement by poaching H&K clients after she’d left for Edelman.
This is simply H&K seeking to poach staff from rival firms. You’d kind of expect qualified candidates to work at rival firms, wouldn’t you?
Biting the hand that fed you vs. offering someone a job
no, i just can’t see how they’re analogous at all. Could you please explain?
