Hill & Knowlton ends legal fight with former staffers Hutton and MacIntosh
WPP public relations agency Hill & Knowlton has concluded its legal action against former staffers Michelle Hutton and Anna MacIntosh, and their new employer Edelman PR.
The terms of the settlement have not been made public. Hutton – who heads Edelman in Australia since leaving Hill & Knowlton last year – issued a statement saying:
“I am very pleased that Hill & Knowlton’s legal proceedings against me, Anna MacIntosh and Edelman have today been concluded. A range of allegations were made against each of us, and we have jointly defended our conduct and position in relation to these matters very strongly. We look forward to putting the proceedings behind us and getting on with business at Edelman Australia.”
She declined to comment further.
Today’s statement comes four months after it emerged that Hutton and colleague Anna MacIntosh were in a legal battle with WPP.
Hutton left Hill & Knowlton in March last year to run Edelman, with MacIntosh following to be director of consumer marketing at the agency.
Hill & Knowlton had alleged that the duo had breached contractual obligations relating to the agency’s clients.
Since Hutton’s departure, Hill & Knowlton has been through a period of management unstability, while by contrast Edelman has picked up a number of account wins.
In reflection of this announcement, the recent redundancies at H&K, the loss of key performing staff and the ‘new’ role of their Regional Chief Operating Officer, is it suspected that H&K is going through a period of management instability or something more?
