Hungry Jack’s – something to sing about

I often enjoy giving the Hungry Jack’s ads a kicking, so it’s good to see a new one where there’s an interesting idea.

I realise there’s a danger that someone immediately points out an ad it draws inspiration from, but for a quick turnaround, relatively low budget campaign where the idea ties closely to the product, this one for the Bourbon Whopper looks to me like a job well done.

  4. Is that Fitzy one a Hungry Jacks ad? I laugh every time I see it and had no idea who it was an ad for…

  6. I could have flame grilled the brand onto the interviewers head, but please…

The opening line mentions the brand, as well as the signature burger- the Whopper.

The super at the end – Buy a Whopper…win a Whopper Grand Final week.

The tag- The burgers are better at Hungry Jack’s.

Fitzy also has an association with HJ’s that goes back a number of years. While it’s not in the league of old spice, it’s worth checking out the facebook page that has close to 95,000 fans of the ad.

  8. The creatives who wrote this ad did a brilliant job. Never have i seen a fast food giant such as Hungry Jacks produce an ad with such relevance.

The concept beats anything they have ever done previously.

And the Fitzy ad shares in the same success. Every time you watch that ad, it sticks in your head.

Love your work MJW! I’ve got Hungry Jacks on my mind!

  10. As a PR bloke who works for HJ’s opposition, I’m very surprised they’ve tied the Whopper to an alcoholic drink… great for attracting the 18-40 year old male demographic, but a risky message to be playing with.

  12. The small print on the ad does stress that despite the name of the sauce, it’s non-alcoholic.

    Cheers,

  14. And it’s a bourbon “flavoured” sauce.

Which makes sense. Since they serve up beef “style” meat.

  18. In a more interesting world they could have had a guy at an AA meeting confessing to his desire for the burger.

  26. What would your idea have been Paul?

Should be a rule on these sites. If you slag an ad off, you gotta come up with something better.

    Look forward to your response.

  30. My favourite Hungry Jacks ad was one for their chicken wrap, which after 29 seconds of extolling the virtues of said wrap, signed off with their tagline “the burgers are better at Hungry Jacks”. Well thanks for warning me, guys, I guess I won’t order the chicken wrap after all.
