I, Frankenstein begins shooting Monday

Graphic novel turned feature film I, Frankenstein will begin shooting in February, it was announced today.

Adapted for the screen and directed by Stuart Beattie (Tomorrow When the War Began, Pirates of the Caribbean), I, Frankenstein will be shot in Melbourne over a ten week period from Monday February 27.

The film was due to begin in January.

Key cast include Aaron Eckhart (The Dark knight, Thank You for Smoking), Bill Nighy (Underworld, Love Actually), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings), Yvonne Strahovski (Killer Elite, I love You Too) and Socratis Otto (X-Men Origins: Wolverine).

The film is expecting a late 2012 release as a collaboration between Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features. In Australia it will be released by Hopscotch/eOne. Hopscotch’s Troy Lum, the film’s executive producer said: “Our rewarding production partnership with Lakeshore continues to develop as I, FRANKENSTEIN begins shooting in Victoria. It’s fantastic that the second film from Hopscotch Features to go into production is such an exciting project, and we are delighted to be working with the Lakeshore team on home soil here in Australia”.

The film will be distributed in the US by Lionsgate.

I, Frankenstein is based on a graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux, author of Underworld, which has also seen a film franchise.
