Ian Rumsby steps up to chairman of Weber Shandwick Australia
PR agency Weber Shandwick has appointed Ian Rumsby as chairman of its Australian operation.
Rumsby will also continue in his existing role of executive VP of strategic development for Asia Pacific.
His appointment coinicides with Australian MD Emma-Jane Granleese going on maternity leave. Before his strategy role, Brumsby was himself MD of the agency.
Weber Shandwick’s Asia Pacific chairman Tim Sutton said: “Ian’s senior perspective and first-person knowledge of the Australian market and our clients’ businesses will ensure that service to clients is uninterrupted during this time.”
The agency said that it expected Granleese to return in about a year’s time.
Weber Shandwick has seen a handful of senior moves in recent months. Head of digital Matthew Gain departed to Edelman and was replaced by Jye Smith. And head of client services Alexandra Kelly also moved over to Edelman.
Rumsby is also author of public relations blog The Glass House.
Brumsby? He is a good fellow and he does work ever do hard.
