Ikea chief marketer Rebecca Darley quits

DarleyIkea Australia has lost its marketing director Rebecca Darley who resigned on Friday, Mumbrella understands.

The well respected Darley had been in the role for almost four years.

“Rebecca Darley has made the decision to leave Ikea after four years in the role of marketing manager Australia. Ikea wishes to thank Rebecca for her commitment and hard work during this time and wish her all the best in the future. Ikea will be advertising for the role of marketing manager in the near future”, said Jessica Murphy, Ikea Australia HR Manager.

Darley told Mumbrella that she had not decided on where her next move would be.

Prior to joining Ikea in 2010 Darley was head of consumer communications at Vodafone and has also worked in various roles for Aussie Home Loans and Sony.

Ikea drew headlines earlier this month when it was revealed the company had been forced to cancel a creative review mid-pitch because “key stakeholders” were too busy to complete the process.

The pitch for the eastern creative work, currently held by The Monkeys, had gotten as far as chemistry sessions with the shortlisted agencies before the retailer decided to call it off.

Ikea’s media agency for its eastern stores is Match Media.
