I’m Sam, I am. And I am on Twitter
To last night’s first meeting of Digital Citizens, where virtually the only person to admit not being on Twitter was Ogilvy PR’s Sam North, telling the audience that none of his friends were on it so he saw little in it for him.
However, like it or not, by the time the evening was over, the former SMH managing editor had a presence, with a new Twitter profile, I’mSamNorth, starting to tweet.
As the first message consisted of the announcement: “Since I joined Twitter (tonight) I’ve been knee deep on (sic) beaver”, Dr Mumbo suspects Mr North was not actually behind the new profile.
However, among the biggest laughs of the night was when the projector reverted to a screensaver. Those who see social media types as geeks and nerds will not be shocked to hear that the projected tweetstream was replaced by a Star Wars logo.
The real Sam North is standing up: http://twitter.com/therealsamnorth
I’d like to think it’s as a result of the warm and fuzzy feeling he got when the assembled Digital Citizenry all offered to be his friends in response to his ‘no mates on Twitter’ comment last night….

The former Managing Editor of the Sydney Morning Herald is now a director of a PR agency…?!
Boy that’s sad, in so many ways…
