Independent agency faces pitch to retain $10.5m account for Rimmel owner Coty

rimmel londonIndependent media agency HM Communication Group is facing a pitch to retain one of its biggest clients with cosmetics group Coty Australia reviewing its $10.5m media account, Mumbrella can reveal.

The agency, started by Virginia Hyland and formerly known Hyland Media, is understood to be defending the account of the company which holds major fragrance and cosmetics brands such as Calvin Klein Fragrances, Chloe, Guess, Marc Jacobs and Rimmel.

Comment is being sought from Coty Australia and HM Communication Group but it is understood the pitch is part of a global review of media for the California based company.

Coty MediaAt this stage it is not clear which agencies are on the shortlist.

This is not the first time that HM Communication Group has had to defend the media buying for the luxury brand coming through a six month media pitch that involved OMD, Starcom and MPG in 2010.

OMD holds the media accounts for the brand in the US and UK.

According to Nielsen, Coty Australia had an estimated media spend of $10.5m in the 12 months to March.
