Industry rivals take to the court to help kids

The media industry will go head to head on the futsal court Thursday the 9th of July, as they compete in the fourth Annual UnLtd Cup.

The announcement:

The media industry will go head to head on the futsal court Thursday the 9th of July, as they compete in the fourth Annual UnLtd Cup. Raising funds for UnLtd beneficiary KidsXpress, each team has paid $2,500, the cost to fund a child through KidsXpress’ expressive therapies program, to enter the tournament.

The event has raised $40,000 this year, which will see at least 16 young people undertake an amazing journey in un-doing the damage caused through trauma, family loss and domestic violence. “I am proud to be part of an industry that is so generous with its time and money to help the community wherever possible. We have now raised $130,000 over the past four years, which has helped KidsXpress to significantly change the lives of young people forever” said Marc Barnett, Founder of the UnLtd Cup.

The rivalry is heating up! 16 teams representing major publishers, agencies, technology companies and trading desks have signed up to compete for the glory and the chance to win the coveted UnLtd Cup. Will past winners Fairfax or Mi9 be victorious once again, or will this year see newcomers like Facebook, Outbrain or Acxiom prevail and hold the cup high in victory?

The industry yet again has pulled together to get involved in the day with a number of generous sponsorships including the “comScore board”, to keep everyone up to date throughout the day. The KGV courts in The Rocks will once again be re-named “AppNexus stadium” for the day and thanks to ICUR all teams will be kitted out in their own futsal jerseys. GourmetAds will be supplying the players and spectators with food and drinks throughout the day. Active International have donated some fantastic prizes for the Player of the tournament, Player of the final and the Golden Boot in addition to the winning team. Elevate will again be providing a physiotherapist and massage therapist for the day to ensure as the competition heats up during the day and players push themselves towards victory, their aches and pains are treated so they can try get their hands on the UnLtd Cup.

In addition to the on-court action there will be prizes, a cross bar challenge and a penalty shootout along with plenty more to keep the players and the fans enthused.

The celebrity game will return in 2015 with a team of celebrities playing against a team made up of one player from each of the 8 teams that do not qualify for the quarter finals. The celebrity team will consist of:  Steven Bradbury, Anthony Minichiello, Luke Ricketson, Tim Omaji, Imogen Bailey and Andrew Mehrtens. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to see these celebrities in action potentially playing off against one of your colleagues or industry rivals.

The post tournament drinks will be held across the road at The Australian, where the whole industry is invited to come celebrate victory and commiserate defeat as the players and spectators revel in yet another successful year at the UnLtd Cup.
