Is reality television unreal? Ask Google
Sometimes Dr Mumbo suspects that the viewing public doesn’t have much trust in the people who make their reality TV shows.
Google’s autocomplete function gives a handy insight into what questions people are asking.
Dr Mumbo isn’t always great at spotting a pattern, so he wonders if anybody else can see one here…
Take Nine’s The Voice. Viewers wonder if it’s rigged or fake.
Then there’s Ten’s The Bachelor. They wonder if it’s scripted.
Or Seven’s MKR. Is it fake? Or is it rigged?
Or Masterchef. Is it fake? Or rigged?
And Seven’s The X Factor. Is it staged or rigged?
And I’m A Celebrity. It is real? Is it a fix?
And of course, Nine’s grand old lady of reality, The Block. Is it rigged or scripted?
Like Dr Mumbo says, there seems to be a subtle pattern to these questions, but he just can’t quite grasp what it’s saying about viewer trust. Perhaps he should Google it.
I just Googled “Is it a slow news day at Mumbrella”
It said “pretty much a typical day”.
