I’ve seen ads you people wouldn’t believe
It’s amazing what turns up on the internet.
Like Smith’s chips’ alien Gobbledok channeling the classic Rutger Hauer speech from Blade Runner.
According to industrial designer Greg McKee, who posted the video:
“This is the never before publicly seen Gobbledok head. Commissioned for a Smith’s potato chips ad campaign, the character was finished exactly at the time Smiths changed advertising agencies and not even the original advertising agency saw the results.”
The latest Gobbledok is the creation of Clemenger BBDO Sydney, while the original Gobbledok ads were greated by George Patterson Advertising.
And a reminder of the Blade Runner original:
Bring the original Gobbledok back!! Chippies…..

@ Jeremy . Not vhs tearing. It was filmed on a sanyo video8 camera. I didn’t get a miniDV cam till about 1998. Most of my behind the scenes babe footage was shot on video8 and has similar video artefacts

Btw,the gobbledok was never meant to talk so the lipsynch and the mouth movements are very ordinary. Have a look at this lip synch I did a few years later for StarWars:
