Jessica Adamson to become new weekend Seven News presenter in Adelaide

Seven has announced that Jessica Adamson will become the new weekend news presenter in Adelaide from January.

The announcement:

Award winning journalist Jessica Adamson has been announced as the new weekend Seven News presenter in Adelaide.

Jessica, 42, has been part of the Seven News team for 17 years and in that time has forged a reputation as one of the finest journalists in the state.

Jessica joined the Seven Network as a reporter for Adelaide’s No. 1 news service, Seven News, in 1997, after beginning her career at the Stock Journal newspaper.

Jessica’s upbringing on the family farm at Hallett in the Mid North of South Australia gave her a solid background in rural affairs.

Jessica was the Seven News Crime Reporter for more than a decade but she has also amassed a great deal of experience covering national and international stories for the Seven Network, including the Sydney and Beijing Olympics, the Tour de France, the Beaconsfield Mine disaster, the drug trials of Michelle Leslie and the Bali Nine, the Bali bombings and the devastating Boxing Day tsunamis, where she spent weeks reporting from the devastation in Banda Aceh.

In 2006 Jessica was announced as the SA Journalist of the Year. She has also received the SA Institute of Justice of Police Media Award (2003) and a Citation from the Archbishop of Adelaide (2005).

In her time at the Seven Network Jessica has completed multiple presenting roles for Seven News.

Away from work, Jessica is married to Dave and has five year old twin boys, Angus and Louis, and a two year old daughter, Sophie.

Jessica is a passionate ambassador for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and CanTeen – the Australian organisation for young people living with cancer.

As well as commencing the role of weekend Seven News presenter, Jessica will continue to work as a journalist with the Seven News team.

Jessica will officially present her first weekend bulletin on Saturday, January 24 2015.
