Razor’s Jonathan Hopkins joins MCM Media

jonathan hopkinsThe boss of one of Australia’s biggest independent media agencies is to leave a for a new role at a media company.

Jonathan Hopkins, managing director of Razor Media, will join MCM Media next month in the newly created role of chief strategy and marketing Officer.

Hopkins will report to MCM Media CEO Simon Joyce. He will be lead the sales and content teams and be responsible for the positioning and commercial maximisation of MCM Media. MCM specialises in music content across radio, digital and content marketing.

“Jonathan’s brief is to ensure that our content, sales and marketing are completely aligned to deliver the best possible results for audiences and advertisers alike. We had an enormous amount of interest in this role from some of the country’s leading marketers and we are delighted to have an executive of his strategic quality joining our team,” said Joyce.
Hopkins said: “After 15 years of advising clients how to do their marketing, I have decided it is time to step up and do some myself,” said Hopkins. “The role is amazing and quite unique in the Australian marketplace. It’s a rare opportunity and I am very excited to be joining a business as innovative, dynamic and forward thinking as MCM Media. Their music platforms have phenomenally passionate followings which are very attractive to advertisers.”

Hopkins joined Razor in 2006 and before that was at Universal McCann.

He will be based in Sydney and starts on April 15.

Razor principal Simon Rush told Mumbrella that an announcement on a replacement for Hopkins would come shortly.
