Karen Halligan moves from Slingshot to Bohemia as head of investment

Karen HalliganSlingshot’s Karen Halligan is to join rival independent media agency Bohemia as head of implementation and investment.

Halligan was the general manager of Slingshot, and has 20 years’ experience in the industry running some of the country’s largest media accounts including Procter and Gamble, Coles Myer Ltd and Coca-Cola.

“We are delighted in announcing Karen’s appointment. She has all we wanted and then some. We look forward to an immediate positive impact as a Bohemian,” said Brett Dawson, managing partner of Bohemia which has been on a hiring spree after it picked up the large Vodafone account at the end of last year from Ikon. 

“We have enjoyed significant growth and have been looking for the best complementary leader to join our management team and head our implementation and investment product. Halligan was previously held senior roles at Mediacom, UM and also worked client side at Coca-Cola.

Simon Rutherford CEO of Slingshot said Halligan has made a major contribution to his media agency and that he wished her well.

“Karen has been a fantastic contributor to our business and I’m sure she will be for them too,” he said, while confirming that her position would not be replaced externally but rather through an internal restructure.

Bohemia is majority independently owned with the STW Group having a minority shareholding. The two year old media agency, now boasts most than $120m in billings and has had a steady series of wins in recent times.

Halligan starts at Bohemia today.
