Kerry, why are you so excellent?
What Dr Mumbo most admires about 3AW’s Neil Mitchell is his willingness to ask tough questions.
But he left the big guns at home for billionaire media mogul Kerry Stokes.
While Stokes is indeed an impressive character, it’s fair to say that Mitchell struggled to keep his admiration in check…
Bam! “Do you realise what an interesting man you are?”
Pow! “Your story is motivating to people. Do you see that?”
Zap! “A friend of mine said you’re the only media mogul who wasn’t a philistine.”
Bish! “You’re a very generous philanthropist…”
Bosh! “Is there anything you’re not good at?”
Bash! “What sort of car would you buy?”
It was not the toughest grilling radio Mitchell’s listeners will have ever heard him give.
Solid interview with a remarkable Australian. One-sided? Sure… But that’s the side I’d rather be on.

It not always about controversy or making outrageous statements that makes news. I’m happy to have been positively influenced by Kerry Stokes humble nature and positivity. Not sure what the expectations of an interview with someone who is very private are. Given that he was there in part to promote his autobiography and the Rothschild Bible/Stokes art collection exhibition, what were the tough questions you think he should have asked? Neil asked directly about the Australian economy and the outlook for the media scene both of which were answered frankly and directly. And can you tell me when was the last one on one radio interview that either Rupert Murdoch or James Packer gave?? At least he’s prepared to front up and face questioning…
