August 16, 2011 –

The Herald & Weekly Times has announced the appointment of an executive fashion editor for both the Herald Sun and Sunday Herald Sun.

Returning from maternity leave in the newly created role, Kim Wilson will commence in the position from today.

Kim will head a three-person fashion team covering fashion for both papers across seven days and across all platforms – print, website, iPad and other digital applications.

Coverage will include fashion shoots, news and feature stories as well as practical stories and tips.

HWT editor in chief Phil Gardner said: “The team will give us an outstanding coverage of fashion as we head into the Brownlow and Spring Racing Carnival.”

Kim will be joined by current fashion reporter Anna Byrne and a new reporter who will commence next month.

Kim will report to both Herald Sun deputy editor Jill Baker and Sunday Herald Sun associate editor Tracey Linguey.

Kim began her career with a cadetship at New Idea in 1993 before joining the Herald Sun in 1995. She worked as a court, police, health and entertainment reporter.

In 1998, she was appointed Deputy Editor of Inside Melbourne magazine until 2001 when she moved to New York and became News Editor for fashion website Fashion Wire Daily. During her two-year stint in New York she also worked as Managing Editor for FWD spin-off magazine Style 24/7 and wrote feature articles for the New York Post.

In 2004, she joined the Sunday Herald Sun as fashion and entertainment reporter, frequently occupying a front row seat at Melbourne’s and Sydney’s top fashion shows, parties and events.

She regularly works with international and local celebrities on fashion shoots and feature stories, as well as writing practical stories on how fashion relates to the average woman.
