Facebook wars: Kyle and Jackie O reopen hostilities
It seems to be quite the social media week for young Kyle Sandilands. Yesterday he joined Twitter, and today, he launched a campaign with co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson to get their Facebook page back from their ex employers, 2DayFM.
It’s been well documented they weren’t able to take their Facebook audience with them when they defected from 2DayFm to rivals KiisFM, but despite taking most of their listeners they haven’t been able to grab their Facebook audience back, with only 55,000 fans on their own, compared to 160,000 on the old one.
Now the odds are more stacked against them, as the Fifi and Jules page transfers to the 2DayFM page , giving them another 369,000 fans, a serious shot in the arm.
Fifi posted a breakup video to her fans on Facebook to say goodbye.
So, in true tongue in cheek style, Kyle and Jackie O did an imitation video.
Dr Mumbo awaits to see whether @kingkyle floods his new Twitter account with #givebacktoday messages.
Its not K&J’s “personal page” set up by them was it? – it was set up and run by 2day fm and their staff. From a business perspective how can K&J have any claim whatsoever?

off topic but…
whats the deal with them using what i would imagine would be licensed music in this youtube vid? are they allowed to do that?

The campaign will actually be about getting their new facebook audience up to the older higher numbers by use of a pathetic sympathy ploy and to announce Kyle’s new twitter account. And seeing that Kyle has been such a wonderfully considerate and compassionate human being over his lifetime, why wouldn’t you just do whatever the little angel wanted ??

Even if Today relents, Facebook won’t allow the page to be migrated. I have been thru this many times with clients who spend quite a sum on FB ads. They won’t budge as the user has liked Kyle and J.O/Today, not Kyle and J.O. Subtle but important difference as it goes to authenticity, a major pillar of the FB’s approach.
they most likely know but I guess it’s good fodder to beat up Today….or good content when they run out of D grade celebs to humiliate.
