Lee Stephens joins board of Private Media

Former Aegis Media and eMitch boss Lee Stephens has joined the board of news website Crikey’s parent company Private Media.

Stephen’s appointment comes in the same week that saw Jason Whittaker named editor and Marina Go join as publisher.

Stephens is also CEO of Switch Digital.

He said in a statement: “Private Media is an exciting company that is uniquely placed in the Australian media landscape. Sites such as SmartCompany and Crikey prove that quality journalism, that meets the needs of valuable audiences, can create value and profit for subscribers and advertisers. Private Media is one of very few companies globally that is getting the mix between paid and free online content right and the result is a better experience for readers.”

Private Media’s CEO Amanda Gome said: “Private Media is growing incredibly fast. There are lots of opportunities as print advertising revenue migrates online and we want to make sure we pick the right ones.”
